Indonesia Hosted the 17th Session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Asia |

The 17th Session of the FAO/WHO Regional Coordinating Committee for Asia (CCASIA) was held at Kuta Paradiso Hotel, Denpasar, Bali, in November 22-26, 2010. CCASIA is of Regional Coordinating Committee under Codex system, plays an important role in ensuring the committee performance in responding the interest of the territory. The meeting of CCASIA was chaired by Kukuh S.Achmad, from The National Standardization Agency of Indonesia. The session was attended by more than 130 participants from 20 nations in ASIA and some International organizations. Previously, it had been done FAO/WHO Regional Workshop on the "Use of Science throughout the Food Chain for Safe Foods" on November 18-20, 2010 at the same place. The event actually held in Yogyakarta, however, because of the Merapi's eruption, it wass not possible to be held in Yogyakarta and then it should be shifted to Bali. |

Request for Comments on the Agendas of the 64th Executive Committee |

The forthcoming 64th Session of the Executive Committee will be held in Geneva, 29 June-2 July 2010. According to the Rule V Executive Committee of the Codex Procedural Manual, the Executive Committee may make proposals to the Commission regarding general orientation, strategic planning, and programming of the Work of the Commission, study special problems and shall assist in the management of the Commission's programme of standards development, namely by conducting a critical review of proposals to undertake work and monitoring the progress of standards development. As a Regional Coordinator for Asia, Indonesia will participate in this Executive Committee session. Before that session, Asian Member Countries are invited to submit comments on the agendas of the Executive Committee, preferably by email to the Indonesian Secretariat for CCASIA (
